Animal Research Technician

Vaxxinova US is seeking an Animal Research Technician to join our team in Willmar, MN.

About the Animal Research Technician

The Animal Research Technician is responsible for the daily care of the animals used in research and development according to the established study protocols. In addition, the position ensures compliance with USDA, and any regulatory agencies in regard to animal care.

Main responsibilities of an Animal Research Technician:

• Caring for research animals including daily observation, record keeping, feeding and watering
• Responsible for the daily cleaning and sanitation of the animal facilities, animal caging, and equipment.
• Operate and/or maintain power washers and other sanitization and/or sterilization equipment.
• Safely operate essential farm equipment and perform preventative maintenance.
• Assist veterinarian and research personnel with animal procedures such as collection of biological samples and administration of vaccinations, medications, challenges and treatments.
• Maintain animal records and overall health of the animals.
• Ordering, receiving of animals and storing material and supplies.
• Help ensure USDA compliance for regulated animals and for licensing studies.
• Set Completes other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Capabilities

• Must be able to assume responsibility, work independently, without close supervision, and cooperatively with other animal care technicians and staff
• Must be able to follow written instructions, standard operating procedures and communicate effectively with study personnel.
• Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time; bending, twisting, and preforming fine motor manipulations required
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. occasionally
• Familiar with regulatory agencies including the USDA/CVB, C-CVB, VICH, OSHA, Federal, State, and Local Agencies
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 2-3 years animal handling experience
• Valid drivers license is required.
