Job Description
Randstad is partnering with a retail company that is looking to hire a contract Solution Engineer within the Infrastructure & Operations – Application Hosting Services team. This role will support pre-release design and engineering, new installation, deployment and product support activities of Kronos and Xstore POS systems. This person will be responsible for implementing, adhering to, and advocating for ITIL best practices in regards to store systems, and willing to work on morning shift to support team. The ideal candidate will have 8 years of infrastructure solution engineering experience, specifically experience with Kronos, Oracle applications, and Xstore point of sale system.

Responsibilities:
-Creates high-level physical designs for execution of large-scale projects. Ensures that designs deliver business value while complying with Enterprise architecture and technology direction
-Partners with infrastructure SMEs to ensure technical integrity, cost-effectiveness, supportability, and operational readiness of solutions
-Works closely with project managers to ensure accuracy of implementation plans and facilitates delivery of infrastructure solutions
-Collaborate with other product teams for any of the implementation issues that needs support from other technical teams
-Actively participates in all phases of solution delivery, provides input and reviews project architecture and design documents, test plans, and other deliverables
-Participates in the definition of the project’s environments strategy and support requirements, and helps design complex integrated test environments
-Participates in the definition of non-functional requirements, including availability, disaster recovery, performance, scalability, backups and recovery, archiving, etc. Assists with planning and execution of operational acceptance tests
-Helps to ensure overall integrity and supportability of solutions spanning client and external infrastructure, including third-party hosting and SaaS providers
-Ensures effective communications and knowledge sharing between project and infrastructure teams
-Maintains post-implementation integrity of design documentation
-Participates in the development, implementation, and communication of architecture and technology roadmaps and strategies. Helps define and ensure effectiveness of Enterprise capabilities
-Participates in the architecture assessment and communications for system retirements and migrations to new platforms.

-Provide technical support and advice for new solution delivery projects.
-Provide technical input into business unit technology roadmaps.
-Design and implement solutions to enterprise-wide computing.
-Work with vendors to build new capacity and optimize capacity.

Qualifications:
-8 years of IT experience
-8 years of Infrastructure Solution Engineering experience
-Bachelor’s degree
-5 or more years of experience with Kronos workforce management system and Oracle applications, SQL server
-8 years of experience on implementing Kronos Workforce and Xstore point of sale system

-Familiarity with network protocols, Internet and Intranet design/usage knowledge of database theory

-Knowledge of database design
-General understanding of distributed computing architectures, e.g. Client/Server, Internet/Intranet, Enterprise
-Understanding of the underlying operating system, e.g. Unix, Linux
-General understanding of storage technologies, memory management, disk arrays, NAS/SAN, networking
-Understanding of routine maintenance, recovery, and handling failover of a Database
-Practical knowledge and hands-on experience with a broad range of infrastructure technologies, best practices, processes, and procedures. Experience with IT Service Management is a plus
-Demonstrated success designing and deploying mission-critical systems in complex multi-platform environments. Experience deploying large-scale software packages or working with hosting and SaaS providers is a plus
-Experience working across all phases of the solution delivery lifecycle, including requirements definition, architecture, design, implementation, and support
-Experience establishing, operating, or leveraging enterprise capabilities or hosting solutions and/or defining infrastructure services, SLAs, and OLAs
