VCA Veterinary Specialists of the Valley (VSV) is looking for an experienced Hospital Administrator to join our team! We are a well-established, 24-hour Emergency and Specialty Hospital in beautiful Southern California. We are a high-volume, state-of-the-art specialty referral and 24-hour critical care hospital providing a variety of specialties, including Internal Medicine, Emergency/Critical Care, Anesthesiology, Cardiology, Counseling, Diagnostic Imaging, Interventional Radiology, and Neurology. At VCA Veterinary Specialists of the Valley, we pride ourselves on our dedicated and compassionate technical and non-technical staff and our team of amazing specialists, senior clinicians, and over 80 staff members.
As the Hospital Administrator, you will play a crucial role in a wide range of complex administrative activities. Your contributions will ensure quality patient care, excellent client service, management of finances and accounting, marketing, promotion of services, staffing and human resources, and discretionary activities that support effective business operations. You will oversee the performance of approximately 80 associates, including doctors, technicians, veterinary assistants, and paraprofessional staff. The key responsibilities of the Hospital Administrator role include, but are not limited to:
- Accountability for the hospital profit & loss statements.
- Partner with the Medical Director to facilitate the delivery of the best possible medical and surgical care to our patients.
- Responsibility to foster a collaborative and positive culture and work environment.
- Responsible for consistently delivering results that contribute to the mission and overall success of the hospital by accomplishing performance objectives focused on business revenues and client and associate satisfaction.
- Your focus will be on exceeding client expectations, a key aspect of our hospital's reputation and success. Your role as the Hospital Administrator will be instrumental in ensuring our clients receive the best possible care and service, making their experience with us exceptional.
- Partner with the Marketing Manager in promoting the hospital and cultivating relationships within the veterinary community.
- Develop and grow future leaders.
- Oversight and development of onboarding, training, and continued growth of our associates.
- Support the recruitment and retention of medical professionals
Who we are looking for:
- Minimum 3-5 years of strong leadership experience developing a solid team and proven success.
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field (preferred).
- Have a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in management, finances, and operations with responsibility for profit and loss.
- Budget management experience.
- Knowledge of sales and marketing techniques.
- Human resource skills.
- Client relations training and experience.
- Prior specialty/emergency veterinary management knowledge is a plus.
- Excellent customer service and personnel management experience.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Highly emotionally intelligent leader with proven skills to effectively communicate with a strong team
- Ability to multi-task and deal with high-stress levels in an environment of changing priorities.
- Ability to balance short-term needs and priorities while building for the future.

Additional Information
Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $95,000 - $125,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
