Veterinary Lab Technician

VCA South Shore Weymouth Animal Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic Laboratory Technician for processing laboratory tests and maintenance on laboratory equipment to join our team at our busy, 24-hour emergency/referral/multi-specialty and general practice in South Weymouth, Massachusetts.

Laboratory Technician processes and tests all types of laboratory specimens; reviews and reports lab results; performs operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment; acts as resource as needed.

Lab Technician Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Receive and prepare samples for laboratory analysis and testing

·         Process and label samples (blood, urine, fecal, tissue, etc.)

·         Responsible for performing moderate and high-complexity testing

·         Working knowledge of laboratory equipment

·         Familiarity with diagnostic laboratory environment

·         Record all data and results

·         Maintain all laboratory equipment

·         Performs quality control and calibration procedures when indicated and instrument checks

·         Inventory control to assure adequate supplies; ordering of chemicals and supplies

·         Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times

·         Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Google Docs

·         Performs other related duties as assigned
