VCA River City Animal Hospital is looking for an Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team in beautiful Post Falls, Idaho. We offer a dynamic work environment with the opportunity to work alongside skilled doctors, technicians, assistants and our customer service team. We are a four doctor general small animal practice, AAHA-accredited, located between Spokane, WA and Coeur d’Alene, ID. We see cats, dogs and small pocket pets. We are open five week days for preventative care, emergencies, dentistry and surgeries. We pride ourselves on the statement “Pets Are Family Too” and will make every attempt to connect with every client and patient that comes in our practice. We make work-life balance by offering a reasonable schedule with some flexibility. We are in a prime location with Emergency Pet Care and Inland Northwest Specialty Hospital being located within a mile of our practice. A successful candidate will have the desire to work as part of our team, have close attention to detail, the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and a desire to utilize and increase their knowledge, skills and abilities within the veterinary field. We have a great client base and we can all say that some of our clients have become like family over the years. There is frequently laughter heard throughout the hospital as we enjoy our patients, clients, and each other.
Here at VCA River City Animal Hospital we practice high quality medicine and offer numerous no-cost education opportunities through VCA Woof University. We also offer in-house training and mentorship that includes technical and professional skills so you can grow within the veterinary field. Not to mention we offer Penn Foster scholarships to those that are interested and meet certain requirements.
Post Falls, Idaho offers numerous outdoor activities and a four season climate. We are a quick growing community and just a twenty minute commute to Spokane, Washington, or to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Our area offers a myriad of outdoor activities so bring your kayaks, hiking boots, or ATV’s. Our schools have great reputations and there are countless extracurricular activities for people of all ages.
In this position, you will be supporting our Technicians, Assistants and Doctors by creating a positive atmosphere for our clients and patients. You must have the desire to work as a team, learn and participate in hospital paid continuing educational programs that are designed to improve your skills and abilities. Duties will include but, are not limited:
- Assisting Doctors in exam rooms.
- Weigh and temp patients.
- Obtain medical information from clients.
- Maintaining medical records.
- Preparing surgical suite and surgical patients.
- Filling prescriptions.
- Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging.
- Providing compassionate care and a home away from home for hospitalized pets.
