Our busy diabetic clinic is seeking a dedicated Receptionist/Medical Assistant to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional clerical and administrative support while delivering warm and professional patient care. Key Responsibilities -
Reception and Administrative:
- Greet patients with a smile and genuine hospitality.
- Answer incoming calls and take messages for providers, managers, and medical assistants.
- Make outbound calls to pharmacies, patients, and insurance companies as needed.
- Check patients into our EHR upon arrival.
- Perform patient intake, including welcoming, explaining clinic procedures, assisting with registration forms, taking patient photos, and photocopying insurance and ID cards.
- Verify insurance eligibilities, deductibles, and copays.
- Collect patient payments.
- Schedule and reschedule appointments for consultations and follow-up visits.
- Complete confirmation calls for next-day appointments.
- Organize and distribute incoming faxes; send outbound faxes as necessary.
- Initiate and complete Prior Authorizations (PAs) and appeals for medications and medical equipment.
Medical Assistant Duties:
- Take patient vitals.
- Place Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs).
- Chart proper documentation into our EHR.
- Thorough communication with Provider and team.
General Duties:
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Adhere to professional standards, clinic policies and procedures, and all relevant legal requirements.
- Enhance practice reputation by accepting new tasks and exploring opportunities to add value.
- Ensure a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures.
- Comply with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient information confidentiality.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Work Hours:
- 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a mandatory 60-minute lunch break.
- Occasional work before 8:00 AM or after 5:00 PM depending on patient flow.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
- 1 year of experience as a Receptionist, Administrative Assistant, or Secretary preferred.
- Experience drawing blood for lab work.
- Experience completing Prior Authorizations for medications or supplies.
- Proficiency in spreadsheets and word processing.
- Ability to create and maintain an organized filing system.
- Exceptional customer service skills and professional phone etiquette.
- Experience with EHR systems.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and practices.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Ability to adapt to changing tasks while maintaining professionalism.
- Typing speed of 40 WPM or greater preferred.
