Job Description:

• The role is essential for managing the Inmarsat GX network operations.
• The Systems Engineer will also have to coordinate and interface externally with iDirect, to follow up on any bug fixes and make sure the vendor support is provided promptly and efficiently to Operations, to meet all the SLAs and availability requirements.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for providing operational technical support to Network Operations team and Customer Care team.
• The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the system is assembled, verified and validated, and performs by the requirements of the contract, to be able to perform the following operations engineering tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work on resolving complex issues that may impact multiple areas of the GX System.
• Advanced disciplinary expertise acting as functional/sector specialist.
• Take ownership of both internal and external relationships receiving direction in the form of objectives.
• Providing 24/7 engineering support for Inmarsat GX network system, globally.
• Responding to Network Operations and Customer Service enquiries and solutions given promptly.
• Troubleshoot any network-caused problems (H/W and/or Systems), ensuring all agreed SLAs and availability of network is met.
• Raise support cases with vendor (iDirect) and manage the bug fix implementation with minimum commercial traffic impact.
• Interact with vendor Development teams (iDirect) to validate and deploy/cascade new software updates and configuration settings into the Live Network safely.
• Provide regular traffic and network performance Reports to Operations / Business Unit teams.
• Perform preventive maintenance of the Network.
• Create procedures for Network Operations and site operators to follow and maintain proper systems behaviour.

Skills required:

• Satcom knowledge is must – iDirect / VSAT / DVB
• Datacom knowledge is a must – Networking and Routing Protocols – TCP, UDP, BGP, VLAN, Switches, Routers etc..
• OS – Linux
• Scripting Languages – Python, ROBOT Framework
