We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Specialist to join our team. As a Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and implementing effective safety programs. Title: Health, Safety & Environmental Coordinator/ Specialist
Duration: 6 months with possible extension OR contract to hire
Location: 2369 Canal Road, Lansing, MI 48917
Shift: 2nd shift (Mon-Fri, 4:30 pm-1:00 am)
Job Description:
General assistance and support to the Health and Safety Manager, ensuring safe practice for the site.
Main Duties:
To include, but not be restricted to, the following duties:
- Provide general support and assistance to the Health and Safety Manager.
- Assist the Health and Safety Manager with Health and Safety monitoring activities.
- Assist the Health and Safety Officer and Manager with the management of fire/tornado safety throughout the buildings.
- Assist in Health and Safety audits produce audit reports and follow up any actions.
- Assist with the coordination and management of health and safety supplies.
- Liaise closely with the Facilities Management team to manage issues relating to the facilities service provision, and specifically waste disposal, buildings, fire safety equipment, electrical testing, and safety audit non-compliances.
- Provide clerical support to the Health and Safety Manager and Health and Safety Forum.
- Assist the Health and Safety Manager to maintain and coordinate any online training software and/or processes.
- Assist in the identification of need and preparation of risk assessments, compliance, and training of staff, with particular reference to machine risk assessments and etc.
- Review, record checks, and file as needed.
- Review relevant safety signage as requested by the Manager.
- Review and record the First Aid and spill kit provision across the local plant.
Required Skills **
- Knowledge of station Ergonomics.
- Knowledge of updating station/ robot lock-out tag-out instructions.
- Involved in new hire orientations.
- Knowledge in Excel and PowerPoint
- Completed OSHA 10 or 30 courses.
- Knowledge of completing 8D’s, creating corrective/ preventative action to avoid re-occurrence.
- Maintain incident reports.
- Communication skills reporting incidents/ environmental issues.
Required Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED required.
Desired Skills **
- EMT experience is nice to have.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
