Job Description :
The primary goal of the Print Administrator role is to provide the administration management and support to the Managed Print Services project for all software solutions such as but not limited to Client Advance, Digital Sending Services, WebJet Admin, Jet Advantage Security Manager, Mobile Print, Client Capture & Route, UPD driver management, print queue management. It also requires the Print Administrator to properly configure the fleet per specification as well as troubleshoot, manage complex printer problems, and collaborate with the IT teams when it involves problems beyond the printer such as DNS, Networking, or server issues. This position also includes interacting with customer personnel on various technology issues for the program.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the printer configuration with all appropriate tools (WebJet Admin, Client Security Manager, EWS, etc.) to ensure all printer assets are configured to the standard. Support the proper configurations per device as follows.
- Printer refreshes
- Change Order activity.
- Printer repairs
- Other situations where the configuration is identified as non-standard.
- Support the review and development of configuration standards for new devices and when firmware or WJA dictate additional configuration parameters.
- Provide the proper administration and support to effectively manage the SW solutions on the servers and the clients. This includes the following.
- Install the SW on new servers.
- Update the SW when new versions are approved.
- Support the certification process of the new SW versions with the customer engineering team.
- Monitor the health of the applications and troubleshoot problems using the tools and resources available.
- Collaborate as required with the customers IT infrastructure teams to diagnose and correct problems.
- Enroll printers & de-enroll printers within the application.
- Perform configuration changes as required in the application.
- Troubleshoot printer problems and help determine the root cause even when it is not the specific application causing the printer functional problem
- Manage printer security such as passwords on all printers globally. Utilize tools such as Client Security Manager and WebJet Admin to monitor, manage and correct printers with improper security settings and credentials.
- Help facilitate annual firmware updates on printers. This includes.
- The review of new firmware levels per model family, working with the customer to review the firmware levels available and providing guidance on the proper level per model.
- Developing and managing a firmware update schedule with the customer to achieve a timely firmware rollout globally. Provide completion status throughout the rollout.
- Testing firmware levels in the Print Lab and performing the certification process for future firmware releases.
- Manage the Windows Print Queues to ensure proper printing to printers.
- Manage the windows queues via established tools. Be able to create new queues, update exiting queues, clear print queues and manage some key print attributes.
- Work with the customer Server Management team to troubleshoot problems which are beyond the Print Admins access level.
- Utilize other scripted tools to help support print queue health.
- Provide support for the Universal Print Driver (UPD) including.
- Testing new UPD releases and guiding the customer through certification testing.
- Assisting or managing UPD updates on virtual and distributed Print servers.
- Troubleshoot UPD issues with the server management team to correct issues with print drivers.
Other advanced responsibilities.
- Help develop project plans for SW rollouts with the print environment.
- Assist with the develop of a comprehensive Print Admin operation guide/manual to assist the team with consistent management Software, Device Configurations, Firmware, Print Queues, UPD, etc. This includes the step-by-step processes with screen prints and detailed steps for operation.
- Assist in the development of the installation and upgrade guide for the SW solutions such as Client Advance, Digital Sending Software, Client Capture & Route, Client Security Manager, Mobile Connector, UPD installations, and other SW which may be deployed to support enterprise printing.
- Mentor other Print administrators on operational and other responsibilities.
- Ability to write PowerShell scripts to gather and analyse data.
- Knowledge of Windows Server administration and Windows components/features.
- Work with vendors and developers for product enhancements and troubleshooting.
