Job Description
The Elementary Academy Teacher Apprentice position provides a unique opportunity for talented individuals to contribute in the field of education and to support the mission critical work of teaching students. In addition to providing instruction themselves, Teacher Apprentices will have an opportunity to observe best practices in classroom instruction and education reform from experienced teachers and school leaders at a leading charter school. Teacher Apprentices will both lead and support tutoring, grading, data analysis, and instruction.
Job Responsibilities
- Leading, under the direction of the classroom teacher, the instruction, tutoring, or teaching of students.
- Support the classroom teachers with instruction, assessments, grading, and other classroom responsibilities;
- Teach small groups of students;
- Support students by providing one-on-one and small group tutoring daily, and small group intervention and student support;
- Observe Lead Teachers in order to improve instructional techniques and classroom management;
- Provide administrative support including but not limited to copies, hallway duty, organizing classroom materials, etc.
- Serving as a substitute teacher upon request
As appropriate, perform all duties expected of staff, including but not limited to:
- Participating in grade-level activities, and school-wide functions, events, and trips;
- Providing consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior;
- Serving as an advisor to a small group of students;
- Supervising students during transitions, breakfast, lunch and afterschool;
- Communicating effectively with students, families, and colleagues;
- Participating in an annual three-week staff orientation and training.

Salary and Benefits
Vega Collegiate Academy offers a competitive salary and comprehensive health benefits package. The salary range for this role is $35,000 - $65,000. Employees with 1-3 years experience at Vega are eligible for a 5k annual bonus. Employees with 4 years of experience at Vega are eligible for a 10k annual bonus.
Start Date
Employment may begin immediately upon hiring.
