Part of Dover Corporation's Engineered Systems segment, Vehicle Service Group (VSG) is a strong, diverse and dynamic global leader in the vehicle service industry. VSG comprises 13 major vehicle lifting, wheel service, diagnostic and collision repair brands: Rotary Lift, Chief, Forward, Direct-Lift, Ravaglioli, Hanmecson, Revolution, Elektron, Blitz, Nogra, Butler, Space and Sirio.

POSITION TITLE: Technical Specialist

SUMMARY: Responsible for technical support before, during, and after the sale of all Heavy Duty products including proper selection of lifts, preparing and interpreting technical specifications and submittal drawings, developing and delivering technical solutions for appropriate service, maintenance, and repair practices, and providing onsite supervision of troubleshooting and repair techniques for difficult to diagnose lift problems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Prepare written specifications for new products.
  • Assist architects and engineers with specifications and drawings for new projects.
  • Develop written equipment quotations for factory direct competitive bids as well as aggregate necessary pricing and technical data for the channel.
  • Prepare submittal data for specified projects.
  • Coordinate required equipment and design requirements for specials orders with engineering.
  • Develop technical sales data and disseminate to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop troubleshooting and repair methodologies and disseminate to the channel through internet, phone, and onsite interfaces.
  • Develop training material and lead training classes for HD distributor sales and installer training.
  • Participate in and/or supervise lift installations in the field for high profile projects or to supplement the technical expertise of channel partner on an exception basis.
  • Submit RFC's to create new saddles, adapters, and other customer driven product enhancements.
  • Attend, set up, and work heavy duty trade shows as required.

Travel:

  • Up to 15%, with overnight and occasional weekend travel required.

Required Skills and Core Competencies:

  • Education & Experience: Minimum 3 years of industrial/commercial technical sales and customer service experience and/or substantial experience in a manufacturing or construction related environment, resulting in very good technical problem solving skills in hydraulics, electronics and mechanical systems and ability to interpret mechanical drawings/blueprints. Engineering or marketing college degree preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite of products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as AS400 ERP system

Applies a sense of urgency to resolve problems or create opportunities that will increase productivity and create value. Shares best practices with other employees across the business.
