Buyer Procurement Specialist
This is a Hybrid position with some remote and some in office days through out the week after training.
Candidates must live in the local area this is not open for relocation.
Position Summary:
The Buyer is responsible for analyzing material requirements, determining the appropriate inventory plan, executing the plan, and ensuring timely material availability at the most favorable total cost.
This position requires a true understanding of production material purchasing the high sense of urgency in maintaining full product creation awareness.
Essential Functions:
- Analyzed MRP output for accuracy and make recommendations to improve output accuracy.
- Manage Item master for all purchased items
- Maintain product traits, status codes, freight types etc.
- Maintain supplier records in ERP system
- Assist in the development of department workflow for tracking, reducing/eliminating excess inventory and obsolete inventory
- Aggressively pursue solutions, corrective actions, and proactive plans to prevent the creation of Excess and Obsolete ingredient and packaging inventory
- Develop, maintain, and regularly publish performance dashboards
- Assist Commodity Managers with Communication to suppliers on Concord Foods quality requirements and expectations, and request documentation to support alternative sourcing for the purchasing team.
- Assist Commodity Managers as needed with daily tasks
- The expectation is to learn the Commodity Managers role for future professional growth.
- Cover for vacation etc. for Commodity Managers.
- Assists with Receiving issues including returns to suppliers
- Responsible for cost-effectively buying assigned sku’s to support the production plan
- Analyze the material plan for a subset of items to determine the ideal stocking policy to support the demand
- Monitor vendors for process and material changes on a continuous basis
- Administer, follow up, and verify all required corrective actions for quality & delivery improvement
- Develop a second source for ‘A’ and ‘B’ items to ensure a position of leverage
- Develop strategic suppliers and eliminate high-risk, low-volume suppliers
- Manage risk by reducing dependency on complex supply chain and single/sole sources.
- Follow up on late shipments and require corrective action immediately
- Control and justify lot sizes
- Provide reliable forecast with updates as data change working with the planning team
- Ensure complete and reliable data accuracy
- Exhibit positivity, flexibility, creativity, and a willingness to take on new responsibilities as requested or required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, Accounting, Supply Chain, Business Administration
- MBA preferred
- Certifications: Preferred CPM, CIRM, CPIM.
- Affiliations: Preferred NAPM / ISM, APICS.
- Proficiencies: Mandatory / Demonstrated skills MS Excel, Word & Power Point, Access.
Experience:
- Minimum five (5) years in global industrial purchasing supporting a high mix - high volume production environment,
- Mandatory –
- Knowledge and experience in ERP system (preferably SAGE)
- Planning to support the production environment
- Food manufacturing experience
