Job Summary
The Hospitalist Chart Research Representative is primarily responsible for the research and proper documentation related to Hospitalist logs.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Researches hospital systems for information to correct and/or update incomplete provider documentation.
- Reconciles Hospitalist patient encounters to Hospitalist logs.
- Reviews hospitalist medical records and identifies pertinent information.
- Protects and safeguards company and patient information and reports suspicious activity to management.
- Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Experience: One (1) year of experience reading insurance Explanation of Benefits (EOB) forms.
- Licensing/Certification/Registration: NA
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Working knowledge of Hospitalist chart flow.
- Working knowledge of Explanation of Benefits (EOB) forms.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, legal aspects of health information.
- Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) such as Cerner, Meditech, Epic, PICIS.
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software skills.
- Strong file documentation skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong time management skills.
- Ability to take initiative and effectively troubleshoot while focusing on innovative solutions.
- Ability to read, understand, and apply state/federal laws, regulations, and policies.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and handle highly sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
- Ability to remain flexible and work within a collaborative and fast paced environment.
- Ability to communicate with diverse personalities in a tactful, mature, and professional manner.
