POSITION SUMMARY:
  • The Cross Dock Lead coordinates dock activities and as time allows, helps dock operation and housekeeping. This position will have input on the receipt and shipment of all materials including supplies as it pertains to the Cross Dock (location, storage, etc.) and will have regular contact with the internal logistics team and external freight carriers as they enter our facility.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
  • Supervises 1 to 3 Team Members on the Dock. Coordinate and direct the daily activity of all the forklift drivers.
  • Helps coordinate all outbound and inbound loads as needed. Answers receiving door and coordinates / directs drivers to dock door for unload, chock trailers, verifies automotive parts as they arrive to our facility, completes paperwork, releases driver when unloading or loading is completed. Relates issues to logistics team with regard to any unscheduled deliveries. Informs logistic team when loads are ready to ship or when loads arrive.
  • Ensures Team Members understand how to perform their duties safely, effectively and efficiently. This includes interpreting, teaching, mentoring and training Team Members when needed on Safety Regulations.
  • In partnership with Dock Team, ensure inbound sub route freight is received and allocated to the correct main route.
  • Ensures warehouse and equipment are maintained, clean and safe
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Follow daily work schedule and keep operations on track.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.

  • Possesses a common-sense management style while working to accomplish daily inbound/outbound route loading and route delivery.

  • Additional duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience working in a Cross Dock/Warehouse required.
  • 2 years or more supervisory or team lead experience.
  • Experience with leading safety and maintaining a safe environment.
  • 5 years plus Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Automotive Logistics.
  • Minimum of one year of Automotive Cross Dock experience required, or the equivalent in related work experience.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
  • Detail oriented, hands on and strong organizational skills.
  • Use equipment and materials properly.
  • Ability to observe safety and security procedures; determine appropriate action beyond guidelines.
  • Ability to recognize and report potentially unsafe conditions.
  • Knowledge and skills related to computer software applications, including WMS and shipping software.
  • Ability to operate equipment (fork trucks/forklifts) and technical ability to operate a pallet jack.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Attention to details is a must.

PREFERRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.):
  • Proficient with data analytics software and processes (Advanced Excel, Access, Tableau, etc.)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Must be able to exert in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently to lift, push or pull objects. Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions. Must be able to tolerate extreme heat and cold.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • The work for this position is performed in an open area, Cross Dock environment. The position works both indoors and outdoors in a range of temperatures and weather conditions.
