Position Purpose:
Reporting to the Vice President of Strategy, the Director of Strategy will be pivotal in establishing and executing the corporate strategy across the Environmental Solutions and Services (ESS) organization. This newly created position will be an integral part of the M&A process and be responsible for providing strategic guidance and support to commercial functions throughout ESS, including sales teams, business developers, marketers, and proposal writers.
Primary Duties/responsibilities:
Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A):
- Develop and implement the inorganic growth strategy, with a focus on transformational M&A activities
- Conduct industry analysis, identify potential targets, cultivate relationships with targets, and assess strategic fit
- Partner with Development, Strategy & Innovation leadership to chart M&A roadmaps, evaluate pipeline opportunities, drive due diligence processes, support integration efforts, and advise on business transformation opportunities
- Deliver market insights and leverage broad domain knowledge to anticipate market shifts, positioning the company at the forefront of the industry
Innovation and Sales Management:
- Establish a new approach to innovation across ESS
- Collaborate with business units to implement sales management best practices
- Finalize and deploy the company's new sales and risk process (WIN process) across ESS
- Identify areas for improvement in sales, business development processes, and systems in partnership with respective teams
- Implement commercial standards and best practices to drive continuous improvement
Business Development Support:
- Actively support critical business development efforts within ESS
- Build and maintain key client relationships
- Contribute to the development of win strategies and offer/proposal development
- Bring new ideas to enhance the company's differentiation and value proposition
Qualifications
Education / Experience / Background:
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the Industrial, Energy, Water, or Environmental business sectors with a proven track record in Sales and Business Development roles.
- Demonstrated expertise in Commercial Excellence and Strategic/Key Account Management is highly desirable.
- Comprehensive experience in inorganic growth strategies, including partnerships and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A).
- At least 5 years of experience leading teams, with strong mentoring and coaching capabilities.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Proven leadership experience in strategy development and execution.
- Extensive knowledge of M&A processes, including due diligence and integration
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proven leadership skills to manage and mentor a team, providing coaching and guidance to foster their professional growth.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, enabling effective collaboration with individuals at all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully prioritize, manage complex projects, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision in both team and independent settings.
- Comprehensive understanding of key revenue drivers and cost factors associated with business processes, service delivery models, and critical success factors across various business lines.
- Collaborative and innovative team player, actively contributing to the continuous improvement of systems, processes, and tools.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational, project management, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including the ability to break down issues, identify root causes, and recommend effective solutions.

- Willingness to travel domestically approximately 25% of the time.
