Position Purpose:
The Corporate Ethics and Compliance Director reports directly to the VP, Chief Compliance Officer (“CCO”). This position requires an ability to work across diverse internal and external stakeholder groups, and requires a candidate with strong analytical, management, and communication skills.
The Compliance Department globally is tasked with enhancing the culture of ethics and compliance within the Veolia Group, protecting the Group from any risk related to non-compliance, and preventing and detecting violations in a wide range of matters. Headquartered in France, the Veolia Group is subject to the requirements of France’s Sapin II Law administered by the French Anti-Corruption Agency. The Corporate Ethics and Compliance Director will work with the CCO to ensure that these tasks are performed across Veolia North America consistent with Sapin II and other applicable laws, including in its relations with clients, partners, and other third parties, by implementing and administering policies, training courses, and related tools.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
Culture. Enhance culture of compliance within VNA and with clients, partners, third parties, and suppliers.
Compliance Program Management. Work with the company’s various business units and support functions to implement, interpret, and continually improve VNA’s compliance policies, procedures, tracking, and reporting. Identify areas of weakness in the Compliance Program and develop improvements.
Action Plans. Maintain and implement action plans for addressing any weaknesses in the Compliance Program identified during the Group-wide self-assessment process and/or risk mapping process.
Investigations. Review employee claims through the local whistleblower system. Advise and assist on the Compliance team’s investigation planning, management, and execution with respect to potential compliance violations. When required, conduct site visits, interviews and prepare reports.
Group Reporting. Manage elements of VNA’s tracking and reporting obligations to Group headquarters. Liaise with business teams to ensure that their practices are compliant and that they are providing accurate data for reporting. Maintain organized records of reportable data throughout the year.
Communication. Communicate promptly and clearly with stakeholders in different regions and countries.
Coordination; Management. Coordinate with other Compliance team members globally and assist in various ad hoc projects as necessary. Manage the Corporate Ethics and Compliance Manager in the performance of his/her duties.
