Job Description
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of plant facilities and mechanical equipment. The Maintenance Supervisor manages the implementation of the plant's Maintenance Program for the mechanical equipment and identifies those items which need improvement or additional work to support reliable operation of the plant. The Maintenance Supervisor works with the plant operating staff to assure plant facilities and equipment are maintained in a safe and efficient operating condition at all times.
- Oversee the activities of mechanical maintenance personnel in performing maintenance and repair activities in support of reliable plant operation.
- Implement the plant's appropriate preventive and predictive maintenance program, including equipment failure records, and provide trend information to the O&M Manager.
- Provide task lists and schedules for plant maintenance and contractor personnel for normal operating periods, planned outage periods, and forced outage situations.
- Maintain the plant's Maintenance Manual, with inputs from the I&CE Supervisor, and assure that vendor maintenance and repair manuals are properly filed and kept up-to-date.
- When necessary, take disciplinary action to maintain a safe and efficient workplace.
- Ensure continuity of Project maintenance through the training and development of maintenance personnel capable of future advancement.
- Motivate, direct and supervise subordinate personnel to effectively and efficiently accomplish their assigned duties through performance appraisals, reward, discipline, and management skills.
- Ensure proper, efficient and safe maintenance of the Project Equipment by establishing, implementing, and maintaining maintenance procedures.
- Comply with the Environmental QA/QC Manual and ensure compliance with all environmental regulatory requirements when performing plant related maintenance tasks.
- Sustain the morale and motivation of mechanical maintenance personnel and handle employee grievances as they arise.
- Utilize the CMMS for all maintenance work orders and ensure maintenance conforms to all work procedures and safe work permit requirements for all maintenance performed.
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of the budget for the position's area of responsibility.
- Oversee procurement and maintenance of spare parts and materials with an automated inventory control system to maintain plant operations.
- Assist with the location, screening and hiring of maintenance personnel.
- Complete other tasks as requested or assigned by the O&M Manager.
- Responsible to maintain confidentiality of all information available to the position.
Qualifications
- Physical requirements include: possibility of working on feet for extensive periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing; and routinely lifting 50 pounds. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g. hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves and high voltage protective equipment, etc.). Work with hazardous materials may be required.
- Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with the possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, work load and plant conditions. "On call" status will periodically be required.
- All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or equivalent required. 5 years of power plant or similar experience required. Power generation or continuous manufacturing experience is highly desired. Strong electrical and microprocessor based control background, strong rotating equipment experience and an ability to use personal computer based preventive and predictive maintenance tools desired. At least 2 year’s experience supervising technical, supervisory and administrative personnel required. Strong leadership and motivational skills required.
