Job Description
The Veolia Burnside Plant located in Darrow, Louisiana is looking for a Plant Manager to provide leadership and guidance for the safe operation of the Burnside Sulfuric Acid Plant. The Plant Manager leads an organization of 10 staff members (5 direct). There are 65 employees and resident contractors located at the plant.
The Burnside Plant produces sulfuric acid of varying strengths and processes spent sulfuric acid primarily from the refining industry. This facility began operations in 1967 and has been expanded several times.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Provide Safety, Health, and Environmental Leadership
- Provides Process Safety Management leadership in a High Hazard Process environment
- Establish, sustain, and improve standard operating systems
- Champion operational discipline
- Foster an environment with open communication and feedback
- Drive high production capability though utilization of improvement programs and maintenance best practices
- Plan, develop, and implement HR initiatives
- Represent the Burnside Plant in the Community Advisory Panel and Industry associations
- Champion High Performance Work Teams
- Manage area personnel – provide mentoring and guidance for direct reports, and oversee training and development systems
- Work with the site employees to manage day-to-day operations
- Interface with the Supply Chain for coordination of production and shipping schedules
- Effectively utilize leveraged resources as required
- Accountable for total site cost and capital expenditures
- Accountable for site production
- Accountable for being compliant with all corporate systems and processes
- Promote and support change in response to ongoing business needs
Qualifications
Minimum requirements (Knowledge, skills, abilities):
- 4 year degree in engineering or equivalent
- Previous Management experience
- Process Safety Management Experience in a High Hazard Process facility
- 10 years of manufacturing experience in a chemical, refining or pharmaceutical industry
- Strong leadership skills and experience
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to set priorities and provide direction to influence management and the broader organization
- Demonstrated strong teamwork, collaboration and cross-cultural skills
- Demonstrated ability to create a respectful work environment where everyone can contribute to their full potential
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Six Sigma Certification
- Root Cause Investigation
Business software (SAP, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite, etc.)
