Operating Room Technician
Duties:
- Prepare operating rooms for surgery, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available
- Assist surgical team during procedures, passing instruments and supplies as needed
- Maintain a sterile environment in the operating room, following proper infection control protocols
- Set up and operate surgical equipment, such as lights, suction machines, and sterilizers
- Prepare patients for surgery, including positioning and prepping the surgical site
- Monitor patients' vital signs during surgery and report any changes to the surgical team
- Assist with patient transport to and from the operating room
- Clean and restock operating rooms after procedures
Skills:
- Acute care experience, preferably in an operating room setting
- Basic life support (BLS) certification
- Strong patient care skills, with the ability to provide comfort and support to patients undergoing surgery
- Knowledge of medical records management and documentation practices
- Familiarity with critical care procedures and protocols
- Ability to analyze situations quickly and make sound decisions under pressure
- Proficiency in suturing techniques and wound closure
- Understanding of medical terminology and abbreviations
- Experience working in an ambulatory surgery center is a plus
- Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology
