Traveling Low Voltage Technician

Job Title: Cable Technicians (New Construction Commercial Environment)

Location: Home Based – on road a month at a time

Duration: PERM/DIRECT HIRE

Pay Rate: W2 – based on experience

Travel: Per diem travel accommodations (flight rental car) own hotel room book for you

Start Date: Once cleared

RESPONSIBILITIES

· NEW CONSTRUCTION COMMERCIAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

· Pull, terminate, test and label Cat5e and Cat6 Data cabling

· Experience in security systems (Fire Alarm, CCTV, Nurse Call, Access Control, etc)

· Terminate data jacks and patch panels

· Install ladder racks, networking equipment and telephone equipment

· Perform testing and troubleshooting of equipment and cabling

· Follow and take instructions from site lead

· Build out telecommunications and equipment rooms

· Work on ladders/lifts as needed

· Ensure job site is clean at the end of shift

· Work in a quick and efficient manner

QUALIFICATIONS

· 5 years' experience working in commercial construction environments on ladders or lifts

· Prior experience terminating Cat 5/6 cable

· Telecom hand tools and personal protection equipment required

Essential Functions of the job:

• Lifting, carrying, adjusting, moving and/or transporting of objects up to 50 pounds

• Walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, maintaining balance and/or crawling for extended periods

• Pushing and pulling of arms and legs; use of abdominal and lower back muscles

• Coordinating movements of the eyes, hands, fingers and feet

• Ascending and descending of stairs, ladders, lifts, etc.

• Speaking, hearing and seeing to avoid safety hazards

• Strenuous manual labor

The environment for this job will involve:

• Indoor and/or outdoor elements

• Hot and/or cold temperatures

• Uneven terrain and/or obstacles

• Interactions with other individuals

• Loud noises

• Large machinery

• Small and/or enclosed spaces
