What you’ll be doing...
Verizon is undergoing a transformation from a telecommunications company to a technology company, and we are in search of the next generation of leaders to help us drive forward. An important piece of this initiative is transformation to an API-first approach. With products at different stages of this journey-monolithic, API-last, API-first we need a team that can help set the right culture, process for this transformation.
As a Rest API Architect, the person will be responsible for:
- Designing API facades, and designing and implementing API Proxies, and Developer portal.
- Ensuring security of APIs using Oauth, SAML, Open ID Connect and etc.
- Creating design principles and best practices in implementing REST APIs.
- Providing guidance on API tools that the platform should implement for producers and consumers of API’s
- Providing subject matter expertise to product, technology and development teams for API transformation.
- Transforming key products/ domains in Verizon’s Technology and Product Development to API-first methodology, offering external grade API’s.
- Creating governance process, standards, guidelines needed for APIs in collaboration with domain architects and Technology Product managers.
- Building strong cross-functional partnerships at multiple levels within the company, including commercial, engineering, marketing, sales, and services.

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Six or more years of relevant work experience.
- Six or more years of experience working on mobile technologies/applications.
- Experience in enterprise and backend architecture.
- Experience in developing and architecting enterprise applications.
- Experience in API Products like APIGEE in designing API facades, and designing and implementing API Proxies, and Developer portal.
- Experience in securing APIs using Oauth, SAML, Open ID Connect and etc.
- Experience in design principles and best practices in implementing REST APIs.
- Experience in working with and writing Swagger definitions.
- Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- Master of Business Administration.
- Hands on experience building and launching API products.
- Worked across organization to build enterprise level architecture and standards for organization to adopt.

Salary : $143,000 - $181,000
