What you’ll be doing...
Verizon is looking for a motivated and talented corporate income tax manager to join our Income Tax Accounting team. The Income Tax Accounting Manager will be responsible for Verizon’s corporate income tax accounting, financial reporting, and assisting with tax planning. In addition, you will be responsible for all Benefit and Debt related issues for both income tax accounting and income tax compliance.
- Preparation and review of the quarterly and annual income tax provision under ASC 740 including, but not limited to, analysis of the income tax provision, effective tax rate and tax account reconciliations, and recording tax entries.
- Preparation and review of income tax disclosures for Verizon’s Annual Report, 10-Ks and 10-Qs, including separate audited and unaudited financial statements.
- Maintaining the cash tax planning forecast with input from internal stakeholders, including modeling cash tax implications of corporate tax reform, for presentation to Verizon’s Senior Leadership team.
- Managing current and deferred tax reporting for domestic legal entities, including preparing various schedule Ms, return to provision true-up, and reviewing cumulative deferred tax balances.
- Preparation and review of Verizon’s consolidated permanent and temporary Benefit Schedule Ms (e.g. Pension and Post-Retirement Benefits) and temporary differences relating to Debt Issuances. This includes:
- Working with groups throughout Verizon to gather and reconcile the data required for the monthly cash tax forecast.
- Calculating the permanent and temporary differences for inclusion in the quarterly income tax provision and federal income tax return, including all required workpapers and cumulative deferred proofs
- Streamlining and optimizing tax processes through the use of various digital finance tools, including Alteryx, Tableau and other technologies.
- Performing tax research as needed with analysis of potential cash tax and effective tax rate impacts including, but not limited to, benefits and debt.
- Assisting with the development, modeling and implementation of tax planning initiatives
- Developing and maintaining relationships with various teams throughout Verizon including, but not limited to, Tax Operations, Tax Policy, FP&A, Accounting, Treasury, External Reporting, and Investor Relations in order to gain compliance, accounting and reporting efficiencies.
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Six or more years of experience in a public and/or corporate tax accounting environment.
- Tax accounting experience with a comprehensive knowledge of ASC 740.
- Experience with OneSource Tax Provision.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% or less.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
- CPA or Masters in Accounting or Taxation.
- Experience with cash tax planning, state taxes, restructurings, and tax forecasting.
- Ability to work well independently or while interfacing with a team.
- Experience with CorpTax, Alteryx, and Tableau.
- Knowledge of S4, Analysis for Office, and Group Reporting.
- Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Detail oriented with excellent analytical, tax technical, and technology skills.
- Ability to identify and communicate tax risks and opportunities.
