What you’ll be doing...
Verizon is seeking an intellectually curious and motivated commercial attorney to be part of the legal team supporting Verizon Business Group (VBG), the unit serving our global enterprise companies, small and medium businesses and public sector customers. This role presents an opportunity for a corporate generalist to partner with the Integration Management Office to advise on legal issues central to post-acquisition and divestiture activities, as well as, provide line of business counsel for designated business units. The successful candidate will report directly to the Vice President and Deputy General Counsel.
- Provide general commercial advice regarding partnerships, sales agreements, indirect channels, and marketing.
- Conduct due diligence and manage legal workstreams relating to VBG’s acquisition and divestiture of assets. This includes analysis of key supplier agreements and other relationships to help the business develop wind down and integration plans impacting business operations.
- Identify and collaborate with internal stakeholders in Strategy, Security, Privacy, Business Development, Information Security, and Internal Audit, etc. to mitigate risk arising from commercial arrangements.
- Counsel business clients on compliance issues that arise in the course of operating a diverse and global business.
- Negotiate and counsel the business on revenue sharing, licensing, international partnerships, and new product development.
- Familiar with medical device and telehealth regulation and compliance.
- Train and share best compliance practices with the business.
In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
- J.D. degree and six or more years of relevant work experience.
- Bar membership in good standing in at least one state.
- Five or more years of work experience in-house, at a law firm, or with a government agency.
- First chair experience in negotiating commercial agreements and advising clients.
- Willingness to travel.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- Able to independently and confidently resolve complex legal issues, often under challenging deadlines.
- Able to effectively manage a diverse, high-volume docket in a timely manner with high attention to detail.
- Able to provide quality deliverables, build relationships and effectively communicate with a range of stakeholders (including executives) across the company.
- Interested in learning our business, the competitive landscape, and finding creative solutions to business challenges.
- Versed in US and international privacy laws, experienced resolving supplier disputes, and have conducted due diligence.
- Familiar with medical device and telehealth regulation and compliance.
- A skilled project manager.
