Job Summary The Painter sprays surfaces of machines and manufactured parts with primer, pre-finish, and finish coats of paint by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Exhibit the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused and stewardship while modeling the associated behaviors. 2. Apply primer coating to treated metal, apply topcoat to primed parts and adjust paints per Vermeer’s quality standards. 3. Prepare parts prior to paint and load and unload paint line as needed. 4. Inspect parts throughout the process and repair paint defects to meet quality standards. 5. Operate high pressure cleaning equipment to treat metal prior to painting as needed. 6. Perform regular and routine maintenance on paint equipment. 7. Follow Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) regulation on safety as well as labeling, handling, and disposal of hazardous waste. 8. Support 5S/workplace organization goals of the department, offer suggestions, and make improvements that achieve the department's performance board metrics. Education and/or Experience - Painting experience/training preferred. Successful completion of Vermeer Paint Training Program. Other Skills and Abilities - Ability to calculate figures and apply basic mathematical functions including percentages and ratios. - Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with individuals throughout the organization. - Ability to perform problem solving techniques and root cause analysis. - Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to assess, evaluate, and carry out appropriate action for a given situation.
