What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Manager position at Vermont SportsCar?
The Production Manager oversees the production process and coordinates all activities to ensure enough resources are on hand. Plans workers' schedules, estimate costs and prepare budgets to ensure workflow meets required deadlines.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Create and implement program for effective utilization of Production
- Effectively manage time and labor costs weekly and identify opportunities for increased efficiencies to remain within budget.
- Proactively develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with and between all departments
- Establish targets and metrics for shop.
- Develop tools, processes, and communication channels to ensure on time delivery
- Participate in new product development teams to support the delivery of new products.
- Develop and ensure production follows appropriate workflow and methods
- Work closely with VSC in-house Technical Director to support chosen direction for development
- Ensures shop/environment is consistently clean and orderly.
- Take a process view towards problem solving and improvements
- Actively engages with employees on the floor on a regular basis.
- Facilitate communication and develop a shared vision within the team.
- Establish and maintain a positive and supportive work environment.
- Manage vendor relations pertaining to shop activities.
- Responsible for budget of shop supplies, consumables, etc.
- Effectively manage relationship with third-party vendors.
- Ensures parts and re-prep components are billed appropriately for event re-prep, car build, etc.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Participate in weekly program meetings to assess workflow, capacity, and general management of company Production resources.
- Participate in the hiring and training of personnel.
- Develop and lead Shop personnel through active coaching
- Develop training programs for cross-training of manufacturing personnel
- Organizes and oversees the work and schedules of team members to complete jobs.
- Manage fly-in technicians and additional support labor, as needed
- Completes performance evaluations in a timely and constructive manner.
- Teams with HR Director regarding discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Superior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Superior managerial and diplomacy skills.
- Extremely proficient in Google Product Suite or related software.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Some travel to events may be required.
Education and Experience:
- Extensive and diversified background with at least 10 years of related experience.
- 5 years prior leadership experience
- Excellent organizational and leadership abilities
- Outstanding communication and people skills
- Knowledge of industry’s legal rules and guidelines
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this position, individuals may frequently be required to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time.
- The individual must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Salary : $77,200 - $97,700
