Associate Director of Campus Operations Programs

BASIC FUNCTION
Provide leadership, coordination and oversight of Vermont State University Campus Operations programmatic elements including lease and contract management, internal services supports like fleet and mail and overall system and business practice establishment, implementation and continuous improvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Administer, manage and negotiate contracts.
  • Confidential communications related to contract and service negotiations.
  • Manage long and short-term leases as both a tenant and landlord
  • Negotiate lease terms as both a tenant and landlord
  • Oversee, manage and initiate software systems
  • Manage, oversee, coordinate and supervise support staff
  • Develop, lead and implement process and system initiatives
  • Research, create, revise, refresh and advise on policies and procedures to ensure compliance and that we stay aligned with industry best practices.
  • Coordinate training on initiatives
  • Coordinate and manage risk and insurances
  • Initiated and administer RFPs
  • Process and coordinate various permit applications
  • Assist with ensuring compliance with various permits and other regulatory requirements
  • Travel between all campuses and lease sites
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Direct supervision received from the Director of Campus Operations or the Assistant Vice President of Campus Operations

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Direct supervisory responsibility for various programmatic areas of Campus Operations including staff for administrative support, mail, fleet and client/customer management, support, and relations as it pertains to lease partners.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of experience leading and managing in a complex business environment, that demands the balancing of many diverse needs on a continuous basis or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Knowledge:
  • Experience and knowledge of landlord/tenant relationships, contracts, and vendor management.
  • Of the importance of confidentiality related to contract and services discussions
Skills:
  • The skill to adapt to, learn, implement and train on new systems and technology
  • Develop and adapt policy and procedure to establish ourselves as industry leaders
  • Identify risks and mange to reduce or eliminate such factors
Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Balancing and prioritize multiple operational and business priorities
  • Manage and direct work of staff at various location
  • Demonstrated ability to support a diverse community and promote diverse perspectives, cultures in an inclusive environment.

Location: One of Vermont State University’s campuses. Travel will regularly be expected to all 5 primary campus locations and our additional ancillary nursing site distributed around the State. Remote work will also be an option at times.
