Position Overview
The Technical Writer will play an integral role in understanding our product suite's intricate details and translating them into comprehensive documentation. This role emphasizes crafting clear product feature documentation, software setup and installation standard operating procedures (SOPs), field SOPs for installing and calibrating roadway hardware including cameras, training materials for internal and external users, and much more.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
- Familiarize yourself with our products: You will read existing documentation and interview internal and external subject-matter experts (SMEs) to gain your own understanding of functionality and nuances.
- Product Documentation: Produce detailed, accurate, and comprehensible system documentation that explains how our services function and their capabilities.
- SOP Development: Write clear and actionable standard operating procedures (SOPs) that delineate the step-by-step processes of implementing our systems in the field, ensuring efficient and consistent field operations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the product, engineering, and field teams to ascertain the most accurate and up-to-date information.
- Feedback integration: Take feedback from cross-functional teams to continually refine and improve documentation clarity and accuracy.
- Documentation maintenance: Regularly update documentation to reflect product enhancements, updates, or changes in operational procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-7 years of experience in technical writing or a related role, preferably in cloud software and IoT/hardware.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including SharePoint and Teams) and Confluence.
- Ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
- Ability to use diagrams and charts to communicate more effectively.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with cloud-based services and IoT devices would be a significant plus.
