Versar is seeking junior and mid-level Environmental Scientists, Planners, and NEPA Specialists with strong technical skills to support the preparation of Environmental Assessments (EAs) and Environmental Impact Statements (EISs) for complex projects nationwide involving construction, military operations, resource planning, and infrastructure projects and programs. Most of our work is completed in support of the U.S. Air Force. The position is organized under Versar’s Environmental Services Group with offices in Columbia MD, Newport News VA, and Richardson TX. Telework is also authorized.
Responsibilities:
- Perform literature searches to evaluate and synthesize information from articles, technical studies, compliance and regulatory reports, permit applications, and NEPA documents.
- Develop graphics and tables, perform analyses, process data, and generally support all functions necessary for document development.
- Ensure compliance with appropriate laws and regulations that guide Federal agency implementation of NEPA.
- Support DOPAA preparation, as well as environmental baseline and impacts sections for various resource areas (e.g., safety, biology, air quality, hazardous waste, socioeconomics, environmental justice, infrastructure, water resources).
- Track project-specific correspondence with agencies and other stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with a variety of senior resources to support project management, facilitate calls, prepare agendas, and develop and manage project budget and schedules.
Requirements:
- BS degree in environmental science, engineering, planning, or related a field required (e.g., biology, anthropology, geology).
- 2-10 years’ technical experience with environmental issues, associated permitting and compliance processes, and technical document preparation.
- Experience supporting complex environmental planning projects which involve NEPA; experience with DoD a must (Air Force preferred).
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, SharePoint, and Adobe.
- Excellent communication skills, as well as strong conceptual, organizational, problem solving and research abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with geographically dispersed team members with a wide range of technical backgrounds.
- Detail-oriented, organized, team player with a strong focus on quality and client service.
