Job Summary:
The Process Engineer is responsible for managing complex and multiple engineering assignments supporting all businesses. The position involves engineering concept development, design management and validation phases for achieving validation of new production facilities as well as new processes.
Responsibilities:
Role Specific Responsibilities:
- Manages all aspects of an assignment from cradle to grave by assuming complete project control and accountability of design, construction, validation, and commissioning of each
- Fulfils the role of process/project manager through effective communication, organization, and coordination of projects. This is accomplished by engineering projects being implemented safely while achieving schedule, budget, and production targets
- Develops and drives realistic action plans which define the project tasks and schedule, meets project goals and expectations, and ultimately satisfies the needs of the manufacturing site
- Demonstrates the ability to understand and modify process controls, including thorough knowledge of instrumentation and controls for a chemical & pharmaceutical manufacturing process. Demonstrates the ability to read and understand functional control logic, in addition had the ability to develop and implement changes to logic where needed.
- Demonstrates effective use of project management tools to develop scope of deliverables and drive engineering solutions and provide thorough project planning and communication to management.
- Demonstrates ability to develop a degree of understanding of chemical processing equipment and chemical processes being modified.
- Assesses regulatory and compliance requirements and engages appropriate internal and external subject matter experts to assure project implementation is delivered in accordance with all applicable codes
- Assesses the requirements of the assignment and uses engineering knowledge to recommend and implement the most technically viable solution
- In addition to engineering/management assignments, the candidate may support site management teams with prioritization and problem-solving efforts to assist in corrective actions during manufacturing interruptions
- This position requires 10-20% travel

Qualifications/Desired Skills:
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in engineering, design, construction, and/or technical support of chemical process controls systems
- Experience with both batch and continuous chemical processes
- Planning, organizing, and problem-solving skills including the ability to analyze technical data and make creative and balanced recommendations and decisions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly understand and convey technical concepts, ideas, and executable plans
- Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and work successfully in cross functional team
- Familiarity with computer software tools (Microsoft Project, Excel, Word)
- Familiarity using process safety tools (PHA, LOPA, MOC, Root Cause Analysis, etc.)
- Familiarity with chemical industry standards and codes helpful.
- Experience with M&E balances, PFD, and P&ID development
- Experience with Aspen modeling, Minitab, and Process controls is preferred
- The position requires 10-20% travel to support the implementation of projects, subject to specific project assignments.
