Job Description General Summary: The Business Engagement & Technology Principal Analyst will provide functional and technical expertise, partnership, and support for the Accounting/Finance business area at Vertex, focusing primarily on Procure to Pay related processes and applications. The incumbent will work primarily with Coupa Business Spend Management, Coupa Supplier Information Management, Kofax AP Essentials and Oracle eBusiness Suite to support the Procure to Pay business team. Primary responsibilities include collaborating with business partners to identify and prioritize opportunities to improve these business processes with technology and data, gathering and refining requirements, determining options for solution design, delivering enhancements, supporting integrations, and contributing to technology-driven projects and initiatives. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Become a trusted partner of the business leaders in Procure to Pay function. Understand their needs and vision; and deliver technology solutions to support and enable their goals and objectives. Provide insights on how technology can improve business processes to enable operating efficiencies and support the achievement of business goals and objectives. Help refine and execute the technology strategy by leading the evaluation, selection, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of technology solutions. Develop and maintain a long-term life cycle plan for the ongoing maintenance and management of systems. Facilitate workshops and discussions to collect and document user stories / requirements for future state accounting processes. Develop and document functional and technical aspects for integrations with upstream and downstream platforms and applications. Assist in business process and system design. Proactively offer solution ideas and potential business process improvements in pursuit of driving efficiencies and meeting business needs. Design, perform and document system configurations within the various Procure to Pay related platforms and applications. Help create and document testing strategies and execution plans. Partner with offshore team members and DTE peers for platform support, as well as technical development for enhancements and projects. Manage relationships with our strategic software vendors and service providers. Work closely with DTE Compliance, Internal Audit and Quality Assurance groups to ensure compliance with all appropriate regulations including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) as well as our DTE system lifecycle and change management requirements Knowledge and Skills: Deep experience with Coupa Business Spend Management for requisitioning, change orders and invoice processing Deep experience with Coupa Supplier Information Management for supplier onboarding and maintenance In-depth knowledge in the core disciplines of project management, business analysis, solution design, delivery, and testing Experienced in building productive partnerships with business stakeholders and aligning them around a recommendation/solution Strong understanding of the business, processes, and appropriate regulatory environments (SOX) Results oriented contributor with a proven track record of on-time project delivery for large, complex projects with global stakeholders Ability to lead business partners/ stakeholders and DTE team members to complete assigned workstream tasks in a timely manner and with expected level of quality. Able to manage own workload with minimal direction Very strong written and verbal communication skills and strong ability to present complex or sensitive information in a clear and concise manner to various technical and non-technical audiences Exceptional analytical, quantitative, problem-solving, and prioritization skills Strong system life cycle expertise Good knowledge of running IT managed services or outsourced/ offshore teams Very strong MS Office skills, including MS Project & Visio, Excel and PowerPoint experience Experience in Agile methodology Education and Experience: B.S. and 7 years of relevant work experience Functional knowledge in Kofax AP Essentials Functional knowledge in Oracle eBusiness Suite Biotech and pharmaceutical industry experience Experience working with managed services and/or offshore teams Company Information Vertex is a global biotechnology company that invests in scientific innovation.
