POSITION SUMMARY
Vertiv, a global leader in network power solutions, seeks a Financial Analyst, ER&D (Engineering, Research & Design) at its Columbus, OH, headquarters location. The position reports to a finance director and serves in a multi-disciplinary finance role providing analysis of plans and results, contributing to annual and monthly forecasting processes, modeling business outcomes, and providing business decision support, as well as other tasks critical to serving as the Finance Business Partner to the ER&D leaders across Vertiv. The ideal candidate is committed to root cause analysis that delivers insight, not just information, and regularly displays an inquisitiveness that craves continuous learning and drives continuous improvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the Global ER&D fixed cost budget for global L2 leaders covering ~$200M annual spend (analyzing costs, identifying improvement opportunities, etc.)
- Coordinate with business liaisons to ensure timely and accurate forecasts and budgets, and management reporting across regions and leaders
- Provide monthly GBU reporting for fixed costs
- Performs variance analysis on actual results to explain discrepancies in Expenses and Capital investments
- Support project cost tracking, matching spend to specific product development. initiatives
- Participate in business plan development, including completion of budget models, based on market dynamics and strategic business plans
- Support the complete integrity of Vertiv financial information through vigilant accounting and reporting accuracy
- Review functional activities to identify continuous improvements to the business
- Perform ad hoc analysis, reporting, and other tasks as requested to support management decisions
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting background preferred but not required
- 0-2 years of finance or accounting experience
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Strong analytical skills, including ability to think about complex issues using scientific/critical thinking approach to solve problems and make sound judgments
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to discern from available data what should be pertinent to upper levels of management
- Ability to communicate effectively with non-Finance business liaisons
- Self-motivated, strong sense of service and cooperation
- Flexibility to work evening hours to overlap with international regions a plus
- Profoundly inquisitive with the desire to consistently exceed expectations
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office tools, especially in Excel
- Experience with SAP, Oracle, or another ERP system a plus
- Experience with Hyperion Essbasse or Hyperion Financial Management also a plus
- Experience with BI tools such as Power Query & Power BI a plus
- Experience with Python, IBM-TM1, SQL, VBA a plus
