Reporting to the R&D Technical Director, this Senior R&D Engineer will play a key role in Veryan’s current projects and R&D team. This is a great opportunity which will allow the successful candidate to take the next step in their career while working as part of a supportive, collaborative team in the new state-of-the-art facility in Galway.  


Job Requirements

Principal Responsibilities

  • Contributing to the development and enhancement of Veryan’s technology and intellectual property portfolio.
  • Leading and performing project tasks in accordance with Veryan’s procedures and the necessary regulatory requirements.
  • Managing and coordinating R&D activities, procedures and purchases.
  • Communicating relevant information and findings to the project team.
  • Supporting design changes and leading technical issue resolution.
  • Working closely with the Quality department.
  • Providing support and guidance to other team members in Veryan.
  • Other ad hoc R&D duties as required.


Education & Training

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering or local equivalent in a scientific discipline and/or appropriate experience.


Experience & Skills

  • A minimum of seven years’ relevant experience in the medical device industry including R&D activities while operating in an ISO 13485 compliant Design Control System
  • Postgraduate research experience may count in lieu but a minimum of 1 year’s industry experience is required.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Continually striving for high performance and improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and complete tasks to defined timelines. 
  • Experience in Design Verification and Validation is required.
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, with focus on Quality, Delivery and Cost.
  • Nitinol stent and catheter delivery system manufacturing experience is an advantage.
  • A keen interest to understand disease states and clinical care would be beneficial.
