Vesigen is seeking a creative and highly motivated Research Associate to join our team and help advance the development of the company’s exciting ARMMs technology. The candidate will be an integral member of the R&D team, with opportunities to learn and contribute and develop numerous preclinical programs across several therapeutic areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Culture, expand, and bank suspension and adherent cell lines in coordination with cell line development, downstream processing teams, and other team members, as required.
  • Harvest and process conditioned media to enable purification by the downstream processing team.
  • Perform and analyze cell and plate-based assays.
  • Perform small and large-scale mRNA/plasmid transfections using standard chemical transfection methods or by electroporation.
  • Stock, prepare, and/or develop cell media to support tissue culture in coordination with team leader and other colleagues.
  • Maintain excellent records of experiments, production logs, inventory, and other relevant information.
  • Collect, document observations and results, provide updates, and present scientific findings to the R&D team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in biology or related discipline plus 1-3 years of hands-on experience in an academic or biotech research setting
  • Strong core competencies in cell biology or other related disciplines
  • Experience/knowledge with cell culture platform to produce extracellular vesicles/exosomes or AAV preferred
  • Hands-on experience with the development of cell culture protocols for adherent and suspension cells and with different platforms such as shaker flasks, spinner flasks, bioreactors, etc.
  • Well organized with attention to detail, and ability to document experimental observations and results in a timely manner.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to multitask with an evolving workload.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Motivated, self-starter with enthusiasm to learn.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
