Seamstress

Position Overview

The Sample Maker collaborates with the Technical Design Team to execute apparel product samples used for promotional purposes, customer approvals, production construction reference, testing, and third-party certifications. They also help to identify and resolve possible construction challenges for production, along with continuous small lot production, alterations, and repair of stock garments.

Essential Job Functions

• Construction of garment samples ranging from basic shirts and pants to complex protective coveralls.
• Assemble garments following provided pattern, adhering to standard construction methods and techniques.
• Duplicate sewing construction of reference samples using a variety of industrial sewing machines.
• Read specifications and apply details while assembling the sample.
• Measure samples and complete measurement form.
• Prepare fabric for cutting, cutting pieces following pattern, assembly, and pressing of garment for presentation.
• Create mock samples for testing purposes.
• Maintain a clean, organized work environment.

Requirements

• High School, Trade School or equivalent preferred.
• Previous sample sewing experience 3-5 experience is preferred.
• Capable of operating cutting tools and various sewing machines.
• Thorough knowledge of garment construction, e.g., aprons, shirts, pants, woven and knit products.
• Must be able to read and communicate in English.
• Basic computer skills, e.g., daily login, email, etc.
• Ability to identify errors in their own work and work closely with pattern makers to identify and resolve garment construction issues.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work within a team environment.
• Ability to lift boxes containing garments when required. (Approx. 10 lbs. – 20 lbs. in weight)
• Must be willing to work overtime if required during rare occasions.
