Summary:

The Security Analyst is a critical member of the Information Technology (IT) department responsible for safeguarding the organization's digital assets, networks, and systems against cyber threats and security breaches. This role involves monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security incidents, implementing security measures, and ensuring compliance with established security policies and procedures.

Basic Function/Responsibilities:
  • Continuously monitor the organization's network and systems for security threats and vulnerabilities. 
  • Respond to security incidents promptly and efficiently, conducting investigations and implementing mitigation measures. 
  • Maintain incident logs and generate reports for management. 
  • Conduct regular security assessments, penetration tests, and vulnerability scans to identify and address weaknesses. 
  • Collaborate with IT teams to remediate vulnerabilities and recommend best practices for security improvements. 
  • Assist in developing and implementing security policies, procedures, and standards. 
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and industry best practices (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability), ISO (Information Security Office) 27001). 
  • Stay informed about emerging cyber threats and vulnerabilities by monitoring threat intelligence sources. 
  • Analyze and assess the impact of security threats, providing insights to improve security posture. 
  • Maintain and configure security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and antivirus software. 
  • Conduct research and recommend the adoption of new security technologies. 
  • Promote security awareness among employees through training programs and communication. 
  • Assist in developing educational materials and conducting security drills. 
  • Document all security incidents and breaches for review and reporting. 
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders and management. 
  • Manage user access and permissions, ensuring proper authentication and authorization processes. 
  • Administer and maintain Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems. 
  • Participate in security audits and reviews, both internal and external. 
  • Collaborate with auditors to provide required information and address findings. 
  • Triage and troubleshoot IT support tickets, as necessary.  
  • Excel in a team-oriented environment, displaying attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibility and urgency toward our clients and users. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision, independently, and seek guidance from IT management, as necessary. 
Required Experience:  
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, best practices, and current threats. 
  • Proficiency in using security tools and technologies. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to evolving security challenges. 
  • Previous experience in a security-related role within an IT department is preferred but not mandatory for entry-level positions. 
  • Experience with security incident response, vulnerability assessment, and security tools is a significant advantage. 
  • Professional certifications such as CompTIA Security , Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) are a plus. 
Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred (Cybersecurity, Engineering/CS/Information Systems, etc.) or equivalent experience.

Management Responsibilities: This position will not have any direct reports.

Position Type:
  • This is a full-time position.
  • Working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with in-office attendance required three times per week with the rest of the time being remote.
  • More days in office may be required as needed.
  • Occasional after-hours coverage may be necessary.
Travel: Offsite training or meeting travel is estimated to be less than 10%.
