3. Ability to organize work, set priorities, and delegate tasks/responsibilities in order to meet deadlines.

5. Ability to provide staff development and training.

Responsibilities:
The Lead Medical Support Assistant duties include but are not limited to:
- Ensures coverage of all areas of responsibility
- Conducts ongoing reviews to ensure quality of work
- Ensures accurate and timely scheduling of appointments
- Provides guidance to staff members to include changes in policies and procedures
- Distributes and balances workload
- Creates and maintains employee work schedules
- Orienting and providing on-the-job training for new and current employees
- Ensures all training requirements are met
- Organizes the work structure of his/her assigned areas
- Acts as liaison between staff to resolve day-to-day conflicts
- Ensures consults for each section are acted on, scheduled, and completed accurately and timely based on VA Directives, laws, and memorandums.
- Ensures all appointments are scheduled according to VA Directives, laws, and memorandums
- Ensures outpatient encounter forms are completed accurately and timely in accordance with the Health Care System policy
- Ensures adequate coverage plan is in place for the section
