Job Description:
We’re looking for an Assistant Taxonomist to support the Ads Taxonomist Team in building and scaling our ads taxonomies to power content understanding and classification to improve the advertising experience on Facebook for people and businesses. The right candidate will be self-directed, capable of working independently and with a team to shape outcomes and successful results. The candidate must be able to thrive in a flat, fast-moving environment that relies on lightweight processes to deliver huge impact.
In this role you will:
Support taxonomy review of models to improve output quality, support creation of Q&A taxonomy/model guidelines
Support and maintain policy labeling of entity clusters and taxonomy nodes based on previous and future risk assessment
Perform quality control checks on taxonomy & taxonomy tool updates
Review term translations for disambiguation and approval, provide content design support & best practices for user facing terms
Work to hit daily productivity targets and proactively identify workflows to increase productivity
Collaborate across a small taxonomy team to ensure consistent application of classification and taxonomy governance standards
Skills:
Strong classification & categorization skills (i.e., “whole system thinking”)
Semantic understanding of how concepts and language represent real world entities and the relationship logic between terms
Excellent communication skills, ability to document guidelines, taxonomy governance as well as articulate taxonomy principles and standards to partner teams
Experience using taxonomy management systems to maintain categories, attributes, and other metadata.
Understanding of how taxonomy is used in ML classification systems
Attention to detail
Education/Experience:
2 years developing and managing product, SEO/SEM, Ad Tech, and/or advertising taxonomies
Masters degree in Library and Information Science, or related field or equivalent job experience required:
Metadata design experience
Product/UX content strategy experience
Experience with social products
Information Architecture
Experience managing big data sets
