What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at VHB?
Overview
VHB is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team in Watertown, MA, Orlando, FL or Richmond, VA. This is a hybrid position with an approximate mix of 50/50 remote and on-site expectation.
The Senior Accountant will be an integral member of the Corporate Finance team. They will assist in all aspects of the Company’s financial processes and will play a key role in managing the accounting close process.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly general ledger journal entries including accruals, prepaid expenses, re-classifications, and other standard entries
- Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, including bank reconciliations
- Perform monthly closing procedures and assists with the preparation of internal, GAAP based financial statements
- Perform flux analysis and prepare summary of key findings
- Prepare bank compliance reporting
- Play a key role in the year end close process
- Prepare annual audit schedules and interface with auditors
- Maintain and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance
- Prepare property and sales and use tax returns for various states
- Assist with the tax accrual and prepare workpapers for the corporate income tax return
- Assist with the annual budget process
- Assist with special projects as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA Preferred
- 4 years of professional accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, etc.)
- Solid analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organization skills and detail oriented
