ABOUT THE POSITION
Senior Track Engineer | Hybrid | New York, NY
VHB is seeking an experienced Senior Track Engineer to join our dynamic and growing Transportation practice in the Northeast. This position provides an opportunity to work on complex transit & rail transportation infrastructure projects and play an important role in expanding and shaping the group.
Responsibilities
- Perform civil design on a variety of rail projects including track structure and drainage, alignment geometry, grade crossings, stations, layover facilities, and maintenance of equipment (MOE) and maintenance of way (MOW) yards
- Producing, managing, and delivering transit & rail projects from study through the construction administration phase
- Managing the development of technical design and specification documents
- Work within a team of professionals to develop transit planning and engineering solutions
- Conduct impact studies, transit planning and scoping analyses
- Prepare written planning documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports
- Develop construction bid documents, proposals and scopes of work, track project budgets, and manage project teams
Skills and Attributes
- Working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures in civil engineering
- Knowledge of local and state regulations governing site design
- Strong capability in the use of computer applications including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Experience with the AutoCAD and MicroStation platforms
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Team oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner
- Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented
- Motivated to lead and mentor others
Qualifications
- 5-8 years of track engineering experience required
- 8-11 years of track engineering experience preferred
- BS in Civil Engineering
- PE license required
- Strong knowledge of track, station, layover facility and general civil engineering
Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $89,000-150,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
