ABOUT THE POSITION
Site/Civil Project Manager | Newark, NJ
VHB’s Northeast Region is seeking a highly motivated, outgoing, and effective Site / Civil Project Manager with 11 years of land development experience in private sector real estate to join its growing Civil / Design practice in Northern, NJ, partnering with our New York City team. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a dynamic organization and lead a growing team while working on exciting assignments throughout the region. Candidate would lead projects from start to finish, including initial scoping through design, permitting approvals, and construction phase services for a wide range of civil engineering projects. This will include large scale multi-phase developments integrating public roadways and City infrastructure, as well as high-profile institutional work including opportunities in health care and higher education.
Responsibilities
- Manage small, medium, and large design efforts, working within a team of professionals to develop site/civil engineering plans and specifications for a multitude of projects
- Responsible for monitoring and delivering the project financial performance
- Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/permitting issues and overall schedule
- Develop new project opportunities and manage proposal submissions
- Lead a design team through Department of Transportation (DOT) and Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) approvals associated with new roadways, modifications to the City Map, Amended Drainage Plans, and Hydraulics Analyses
- Lead a design team through Department of Buildings (DOB) New Building (NB) Applications and associated agency approvals, to include DEP Stormwater Construction Permit and Site Connection Applications and compliance with DEP’s unified stormwater rule, Builder’s Pavement Plans (BPP), Curb Cut Applications, Parks Department (DPR) Street Tree Approvals, Department of Transportation (DOT) Approvals for work in the in the right-of-way, Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Letter of No Objections for sidewalk and utility work within 200-feet of MTA infrastructure, and others
- Prepare and review design drawings and specifications documenting the new building and associated site features, including the layout and material identification of surface features including vehicular access, parking, and site circulation; grading and drainage of the site and conformance with DEP’s water quality, run-off reduction, and detention requirements; utility layout; and erosion and sediment control
- Supervise design team activities during construction administration and construction close-out

Qualifications
- 11-15 years of site/civil design engineering experience
- BS in Civil Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer required
- CAD experience (AutoCAD) and GIS experience preferred
