What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tower Construction Manager position at Viaero Wireless?
Viaero Wireless, dba Industrial Tower West, LLC is looking for a self-motivated, detail oriented, and a patient problem-solver to head our Tower Site construction teams throughout Colorado. This position is based in Fort Morgan, Colorado and requires regional travel. Candidates must live within a reasonable driving distance from crew base.
The Tower Construction Manager oversees and directs completion of projects assigned. They coordinate tower crews on day-to-day operations of tower overlay, maintenance and construction projects. They also ensure the completion of close out packets for each tower project.
Primary Responsibilities
- Build relationships and establish a fluid working rapport with Field Techs, co-workers, other departments and sub-contractors
- Manage your area to maximize alignment of the crews to efficiently complete assigned projects
- Resolve concerns of staff and with other department in a professional, timely and efficient manner
- Oversee preparedness of the teams concerning inventory and tools necessary to complete the assigned job
- Provide onsite supervision and support to crews, including skill development of new climbers and leadership development of crew foremen
- Manage changes to the project scope and project schedule
- Report on update calls/meeting concerning specific projects assigned in your area
- Provide site updates daily, weekly and quarterly as dictated by the schedule
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency to adhere to project deadlines
- Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
- Ensure quality of field work, closeouts, photos, paperwork
- Construct sites as defined by Engineering and as outlined in blueprint drawings, which includes site preparation, construction, outdoor enclosures installation and construction, site grounding system installation and electrical wiring as necessary
- Assist with needs on the Tower, including those which require climbing
- Ensure timecards are correct and complete with site code and description of work being completed
- Ensure employee time and expenses are approved and delivered to payroll for processing by the designated deadline
- Adhere to safety standards and company policy
- Consult the Safety Manager if safety concerns are present or additional training is needed
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Requires 3 years’ experience in Tower Construction
- Familiarity with industry-standard concepts, best practices and procedures
- Strong time management, organization and verbal and written communication
- Education or Certification in Construction Management and NATE preferred
- Ability to climb towers up to 450 feet
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), Quick Base a plus
- Ability to pass all pre-employment tests/checks, including MVR, criminal and substance screening
