What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Bartender position at Viceroy?
Viceroy Chicago, located at the site of the 1920's-era Cedar Hotel, among historic mansions and just steps to the Magnificent Mile and Lake Michigan, Viceroy Chicago offers a locally-inspired luxury experience with 180 guestrooms, including 18 suites. Explore modern, Midwest flavors at the hotel’s restaurant or head up to the rooftop bar, pool and lounge, perched 18 stories high for a sweeping panorama of Great Lake views and Chicago’s iconic, soaring skyline.
Scope of this position:
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and anticipate guest needs
- Strong engaging communication and interpersonal skills
- Consistently keep the bar area organized and clean
- Know all specialty cocktail ingredients and garnishes
- Participate in updated training for the bar and menu items
- Know the Pour Count for each drink and be able to follow pouring procedures appropriately
- Answer questions on menu selections and drinks to servers and guests
- Communicate with the kitchen regarding menu questions, the length of wait, re-cooking orders, and product availability
- Record transaction in the POS system at time of order
- Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction with each food course and/or beverages
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas, china, glass, etc., throughout the day
- Complete closing duties, including restocking items, turning off lights, etc.
- Present physical and accurate check to guests and process payments
- Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional
- Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards
- Anticipate and address guests` service needs
- Speak with others using clear and professional language
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others and support your team to reach common goals
- Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards
- Thank guests with genuine appreciation
- Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors
- Make appropriate recommendations and suggest preferred items to entice sales and increase check average.
Qualified candidates will possess the following:
- 1-2 years prior bartending experience in a similar role, preferably in a hotel restaurant
- Ability to deliver exceptional guest service experience
- Must be knowledgeable about local area
- Communicating within F&B and with other departments regularly and effectively
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 15 lbs. frequently and up to 75 lbs. occasionally
- Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays.
