What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automotive Quality Engineer position at Vicor Corp?
The successful candidate will perform all aspects of Automotive Quality Engineering for a high volume highly complex electronic manufacturing operation in a fast paced environment. Must have a positive attitude, enjoy working with a team and be driven to achieve positive results.
Experienced candidates are preferred but recent graduates from Engineering or Science related programs will also be considered.
• Work with Vicor across the Design and Operations organizations to implement Zero Defect designs and processes and internal procedure development to sustain the automotive model.
• Collaborate with project managers, the development team, operations and customers on process and product development and release.
• Develop flow charts, FMEAs, and Control Plans to ensure customer requirements are met.
• Define detailed inspection requirements and verify repeatability of critical measurement systems
• Ensure effective communication and containment of quality concerns identified by internal and external customers.
• Ensure effective root cause analysis and permanent corrective actions are implemented for quality issues.
• Support with root cause analysis, 8D, problem solving, lessons learned while driving consistent improvements.
• Responsible for Manufacturing process audits using LPA (Layered Process Audit) methodology.
• Work with Design and Manufacturing Operations to solve quality problems while maintaining manufacturing efficiencies, meeting competitive business deadlines and increasing customer satisfaction levels.
• Provide effective records and analysis of data to production and engineering to provide the basis for quality improvement and cost reduction.
• Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with all AIAG Manuals, including applicable CQI’s.
• Coordinate, assemble and provide PPAP documentation that meets customer requirements.
• Participate in MRB reviews and disposition process
• BS Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related Technology or Science degree.
• Very strong communication skills.
• Ability to develop strong relationships with customers and plant level teams.
• Ability to facilitate collaboration and communication with all operational teams as well as support functions worldwide.
• Able to travel - domestic and internationally.
• Strong presentation skills - both presentation development (Power Point) and presentation delivery. (R)
Preferred Qualifications:
• Electronics industry experience in a high volume manufacturing environment.
• Technical knowledge and experience with power conversion technologies including manufacturing processes,
• Experience working with functional safety ISO26262, AECQ100, GMW3172 environmental and durability testing, IATF 16949 certification and PPAP level processes for automotive customers, experienced with FMEA, DFMEA and control plans.
• 0 – 2 years related experience gained through co-op or internship experience.
• Experience working with teams in a global environment.
• Lean and Six Sigma experience.
• Experience with CMM measurement and programming
• Experience performing manufacturing process audits
