What are the responsibilities and job description for the AEL Test Proctor position at Victoria College?
Victoria College's Adult Education Department is hiring for a part-time Test Proctor to provide support to the Adult Education program students and instructors. This position will assist with pre-screening, determining eligibility, and completing enrollment processes for adult education students.
- Assist potential adult education students in one or more of the following areas: English as a Second Language (ESL), Adult Basic Education (ABE), Adult Secondary Education (ASE), High School Equivalency, Distance Learning, Workforce Skills Development, Transition to employment and/or Post-Secondary Education
- Conduct information sessions and assist potential students with required documentation for enrollment.
- Administer adult education standardized assessments to participating adult education students to determine academic intervention strategies.
- Offer continued support services and appropriate referrals and follow-up with adult education students in order to increase student retention
- Maintain testing supplies and materials and ensure integrity and protection of personal identifiable information.
- Maintains communication with the AEL enrollment personnel to request materials, ensure accurate record keeping, and fulfill intake requirements.
- Submits required reports that are accurate and turned in by dates as set by college policy/procedures
- Completes annual staff development requirements as determined by SBOE rules and supervisor(s)
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships with adult education staff and program participants
- Participate in VC promotional activities and community events as requested
- May be assigned additional duties
- GED or High School Diploma required
- Some college preferred
- Must possess computer skills with basic troubleshooting experience
- Must be willing to work a flexible and varied schedule
- Must have effective interpersonal, oral, and written skills, and be able to work some evenings and be willing to travel within the service area
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle controls, key pads, etc. Will be required to sit and reach with hands and arms as well as, sit, stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds while loading office supplies and paper. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, some color vision, and the ability to adjust focus from documents to computer screen. Hearing of light to moderate sound is required by this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
