Position Title - Shop Manger
The Technic Training Center Shop Manager will manager the facilities and equipment, lead the training activities in the areas of wood manufacturing, including making custom furniture, cabinetry, commercial fixtures, architectural millwork, and a wide variety of other wood products.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee Technic wood manufacturing shop facility and equipment by establishing procedures for safety, security, and ongoing maintenance.
- Train students to safely operate machine by teaching and enforcing safety procedures.
- Develop and implement machine centers and shop layout for workflow of training activities.
- Provide hands-on instruction in the materials, techniques, processes, and technologies of wood manufacturing, cabinetmaking, furniture making, and CNC wood product manufacturing in accordance with established course outlines.
- Work with local school leaders and teacher at Technic to host career and technical training opportunities for students.
- Improve instructional quality by engaging in assessment of determined student learning outcomes and evaluation of results achieved.
- Engage in sort term and long-term planning for Technic program.
- Engage with industry and actively participate in discussion on curriculum, training techniques, and production materials.
- Mentor and coach students for life and work.
Core Competencies
- Ability to teach the fundaments and practices of wood technology, including cabinet making, CNC construction, furniture making, manufacturing processes, and materials technology.
- Experience in the private business sector and education preferred.
- Commitment to sustainable practices in wood technology.
- Experience working with students, working as part of a team, and working with volunteers.
- Ability to interact with students, staff, volunteers, and parents in a positive manner while being consistent, fair, and treating people with dignity and respect.
Role Reporting
- The Shop Manager will report to the Technic Program Director.
Time Commitment
- This is a full-time position - Typical hours will be Monday - Friday 8:00-4:30
