We are currently seeking a Principal Technology Chemist to join our Ink Development team in Wood Dale IL. The main objective for this associate will be to improve new product revenue growth while reporting to the Lead R&D Chemist for technology.
In this role, the associate’s responsibilities would include:
- The hands-on development of ink jet inks working within a cross functional team.
- Contributing to formulation technology and design by surveying literature and applying state of the art materials and concepts within overall project regulatory and cost constraints.
- Developing project feasibility argument by demonstrating ink performance versus competitors and resolving critical project questions in the lab.
- Continually resolving problems at the point and informing the team of key project risks.
- Following established test methodologies, but also improving methods to yield better results.
- Providing technical leadership to superiors and colleagues alike by open discourse and discussion.
- Travelling to conduct customer field trials up to 10% of time.
- Ensuring independent ownership and completion of goals on-time.
Education requirements:
- Minimum of a M.S. degree in the chemical sciences with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- An advanced degree in Chemistry or a closely related field is strongly preferred, which may be sufficient to substitute for relevant experience.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. and travel internationally.
Prior experiences needed:
- Industrial experience with direct involvement in new product development with demonstrated success in launching winning products- particularly innovative ones.
- Solvent and/ or water based formulation chemistry including paints, coatings, adhesives, curable systems, binders, pigments, dispersions, dyes, etc..
- Understanding of specifics of inkjet inks and ink jet printing systems is a strong plus.
- A presentation to the hiring team of dissertation or recent industrial work will be requested.
Skills needed:
