WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Technical Lead will support studio, auditorium, and event production facilities for an established global technology client. This key role is responsible for:
- overseeing the day-to-day regional video engineering operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting all aspects of the client’s production facilities and control rooms;
- partnering with the internal events, client, and event management teams to collaborate on the technical support needs for events; and
- fulfilling various operation roles based on the scope of production requirements.
DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Management
- Oversee the regional technical operations for a team responsible for providing high-quality and customized live event experiences through professional quality video, audio, lighting, and presentation to allow the client and external partners to connect and communicate their message in a distinct and technologically innovative way to colleagues and customers alike.
- Collaborate with event team on technical broadcast approach and design of productions.
- Develop and document best practices for all regional event spaces including production operations and technology configuration to ensure top level of production quality and consistency.
- Implement regional preventative maintenance procedures and facility plans to ensure locations remain operationally ready.
- Perform and execute onsite quarterly and annual maintenance for all sites within regional assignment.
- Serve as the first-tier escalation point of contact for all equipment troubleshooting, service and maintenance needs
- Make sure all discrepancies are communicated and resolved to the clients’ satisfaction and in a timely manner.
- Implement training program to develop personnel and ensure they have the skillset and knowledge to effectively perform their roles and provide recommendations and opportunities for advancing capabilities.
- Support the assessment and recommendation of solutions about functionality of studio and event spaces based on operational requirements and event scope.
- Provide guidance on post-mortems of webcasts and fully analyze what went right, what went wrong, and make recommendations for future improvements.
- Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with team members to ensure alignment on event procedures, scheduling, and production briefs as required.
Production Operations
- Assist in the setup and configuration of all necessary control room elements for all client productions.
- Support gathering all relevant hardware, equipment, and production assets and oversee testing and quality check on all items.
- Fill various production roles for client productions, including but not limited to:
- Technical Director
- Audio Technician
- Robotic Camera Operator
- Virtual Operator
- Graphics Operator
- Video Playback Operator
- Streaming Technician
- Lighting Technician
- Teleprompter Operator
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Must-have skills & job qualifications
- 7 years of experience in the area of event production, broadcast, audio/visual and video production, or another similar field.
- 3 years of experience in onsite, virtual, and hybrid live events.
- Video engineering and A/V technical management experience.
- Experience with operating control room equipment including video switchers, audio consoles, robotic cameras, and video playback software.
- Knowledge of virtual production and meeting platforms.
- Ability to maintain composure and a positive attitude during high pressure situations.
- Ability to communicate challenging aspects to clients while maintaining a high level of confidence and leadership.
- Track record of being organized, detail-oriented, flexible, and working well in a team atmosphere, as well as having the capability to work well individually, is essential.
- Strong work ethic, self-direction, self-motivation, patience, persistence, and perspective.
- Excellent collaboration and customer relationship skills with the understanding of the importance of white glove service.
- Consistent proactive preparation and timely responses to multiple channels of communication.
- Ability to collect and analyze metrics, extract trending data, and provide continuous improvement recommendations.
Nice-to-have skills
- Experience with Ross production environments and video switchers including Ultrix routers, Carbonite and Ultra switchers.
- Experience with audio production systems including Yamaha audio consoles, Dante audio routing networks, Shure microphones, and intercom systems.
- Experience with Panasonic PTZ Cameras.
- Familiarity with post-production software including Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro.
- College degree in video production, broadcasting, communications, or similar field.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
- Travel is required based on requirements and location of productions and service needs including meetings at client offices and AVI-SPL VideoLink offices.
- Ability to lift/carry 50lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders and perform overhead work.
