JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY**
The EHS Manager is responsible for developing and overseeing all Viega’s environmental, industrial hygiene and safety programs. Ensuring compliance and taking a proactive approach to building a culture of safety. Providing direction for changes that impact Viega’s EH&S Programs at our North America facilities (manufacturing, distributions locations, training centers and corporate offices). Changes that impact safety and the environment would include EH&S system modification, Emergency Responsiveness / Alerts, and Environmental inspection. EH&S Manager works in conjunction with various specialized Viega Managers, ensuring all facilities are safe, up to code and fully operational.

JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS
Environmental Health and Safety Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and sustain environmental, industrial hygiene and safety programs that protect our employees, visitors, company, communities and environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all government safety and environmental regulations, as well as, industry standards.
  • Regularly identifies and evaluates potentially hazardous situations including, but not limited to, biological, chemical, environmental and mechanical threats.
  • Work collaboratively with all levels of North America facilities to establish and maintain a safety-focused culture. Recommend and drive changes that protect workers and build a culture of safety and caring.
  • Assists in educating and informing employees on all Viega EHS policies and programs.
  • Lead and actively participate in incident investigations that focus on root cause analysis and prevention.
  • Manage a standard record keeping system for all investigations and plans for regular review.
  • Develops and drives a process of regular inspections for facilities, processes, equipment and work practices.
  • Direct development and evaluate efficiency of the site emergency response plan, site-specific security requirements and the environmental programs.
  • Direct EHS initiatives as an integrated business partner to support achievement of site goals through the implementation of a robust EHS Management System

Facilities Support Responsibilities

  • Support building maintenance programs that has impact on local environment.
  • Plan, negotiate and manage assigned construction projects.
  • Manage vendor contracts related to corporate-wide facility issues for security services
  • Ensure efficiency, compliance and reliability of all building systems. Examples may include, but are not limited to utilities, fire suppression systems, and HVAC systems.
  • Conduct facility risk assessments; develop and implement risk mitigation plans.
  • Manage all security programs and processes.

Management

  • Manage employees; continually and proactively demonstrates strong leadership and managerial skills in recruiting, selecting, motivating, reviewing, coaching, developing, training and retaining a high-performance team; ensure all business needs as well as employee development needs are being met.
  • Manage the establishment and implementation of EHS procedures, systems, and programs for current and future undertakings to eliminate or minimize risk, mitigate incidents and injuries, and promote health and safety at the facility.
  • Manage continuous improvement in compliance processes, employee training, and EHS performance, while keeping computerized EHS metrics / records and taking part in companywide EHS meetings.
  • Conduct timely and accurate employee performance evaluations; establish employee goals and address performance issues as needed.
  • Effectively manage staff scheduling, including not limited to work assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignments, back up for absent employees.
  • Manage department productivity to ensure goals are met and prepare operating reports and budgets.

Other

  • Attends meetings as required and/or assigned.
  • Regularly support other Viega team members and outside vendors on various projects and activities.
  • Performs other duties as required and/or assigned

Special Job Dimensions

  • Will be required to travel up to 30% of the time.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio,
  • Extensive knowledge of state and federal laws/regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA)
  • Knowledge of building codes
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to define problems and determine resolution
  • Ability to work well with people at all levels both in and out of the plant
  • Ability to perform with superior service, reflecting a positive company image while sustaining a positive attitude with those you interact with; always going above and beyond to help others out, regardless of their position or department.
  • Ability to adhere to the highest standards of quality while continually performing at the highest possible level.
  • Through independent manual work, maintenance and repair work professionally, PC knowledge and the leadership of a team, a work experience of more than three years is required

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, health management, occupational safety/risk management, or facility management, master’s degree preferred
  • 8 - 10 years of related work experience
  • 5 or more years of progressive EHS program experience at an industrial or manufacturing site.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Holds safety certification from BCSP (ASP, CSP OHST, or SMS)
