Position Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week, OT available, Part time is also available. Minimal On Call may be available if interested. Nights and Weekend differentials are available. 1099 position.

Summary:
Vighter is currently seeking candidates for a Behavioral Health Provider - Psychiatrist. This position is at the Northwest ICE Processing Center in Tacom, WA.
The Psychiatrist is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and helping to prevent mental illnesses, emotional disturbances, and other mental health conditions. This role involves conducting psychiatric evaluations, developing treatment plans, prescribing medications, and providing psychotherapy. The Psychiatrist works closely with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, to provide comprehensive care to patients.
All personnel must conduct a site visit before being accepted by the facility.

Key Responsibilities:
Patient Evaluation and Diagnosis:
• Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including patient interviews, medical history reviews, and mental status examinations.
• Diagnose mental health disorders based on DSM-5 criteria and other relevant classification systems.
• Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic procedures as needed.
Treatment Planning and Management:
• Develop individualized treatment plans that may include psychotherapy, medication management, and other therapeutic interventions.
• Prescribe, monitor, and adjust medications to treat mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and others.
• Provide psychotherapy, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and other evidence-based approaches.
• Collaborate with patients to set treatment goals and monitor progress over time.
Crisis Intervention:
• Provide emergency psychiatric care, including risk assessments and crisis intervention for patients experiencing acute mental health crises.
• Develop and implement safety plans for patients at risk of self-harm or harm to others.
• Coordinate with emergency services and hospital staff when inpatient care or hospitalization is necessary.
Collaboration and Consultation:
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
• Consult with primary care physicians, specialists, and other medical professionals regarding the psychiatric aspects of patient care.
• Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and treatment planning sessions.
Documentation and Compliance:
• Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, including psychiatric evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and medication management.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, ethical, and regulatory standards, including patient confidentiality and informed consent.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to best practices in psychiatric care.
Patient Education and Advocacy:
• Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and medication management.
• Advocate for patients’ mental health needs within the healthcare system and the community.
• Provide guidance on lifestyle modifications, coping strategies, and preventive measures to support mental health and well-being.
Research and Continuing Education:
• Stay current with advancements in psychiatric research, treatment modalities, and emerging therapies.
• Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to maintain licensure and board certification.
• Engage in clinical research and contribute to the field of psychiatry as appropriate.
• Educate clients, families, and the community about mental health issues and preventive care.
Qualifications:
Education:
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
• Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States as established by:
a. The National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation (NCFMEA) and
b. Permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).
• Completion of an accredited residency program in Psychiatry and four years of medical specialty training leading to board eligibility in psychiatry.
Licensure/Certification:
• Board certification in Psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or equivalent.
• Current and valid medical license to practice in Louisiana
Experience:
• Proven experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of mental health conditions.
• Experience in both outpatient and inpatient psychiatric care settings is preferred.
Skills:
• Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and therapeutic skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and clinical documentation.
Other Requirements:
• Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
• Flexibility to work with diverse patient populations, including children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and emergency psychiatric care as needed.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred.
