A growing real estate development company is seeking an experienced construction accountant to oversee the cost accounting functions on the construction side.  Confidentiality, excellent organizational skills, and attention to detail are important for this position, as well as good customer relations and ability to communicate clearly.  The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled multi-tasker, is reliable and committed to consistently meeting deadlines.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Work with Project Managers to collect all pertinent information for ongoing projects in order to maintain a good cash position.
  • Accounting in a multi-company environment.
  • Perform inter-company billing.
  • Cash management, Inter-entity and outside A/P, Inter-entity and outside A/R (fees, allocations, etc.)
  • Bank Reconciliations, credit card accounting, and Vendor Account Reconciliations.
  • Bi-weekly payroll with related government reports, tax compliance, 401(k), and benefits remittance.
  • Production of monthly, quarterly, annual financial statements, tax discussions and coordinating for reporting year end FS to CPA.
  • Organize & store data & information in SharePoint and monitor document retention.

Required Skills / Abilities:

  • Accounting software proficiency (QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, MRI, or other database accounting)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with budgeting and cash flow.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  •  Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn about the project or product being developed.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Notary Public a plus (Company Reimbursed)

Education / Experience:

  • At least 3 yeas experience in construction accounting.
  • At least 5 years of experience in accounting or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge.

 Physical Demands / Working Conditions

  • This job operates in a clerical setting and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time completing tasks at the computer and other office equipment
  • Some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
